Catrina Barquist is a professional book illustrator with a background in Printmaking and Painting. Her distinctive style of using line and dot is inspired by 15th-century printmaking as well as the 1900 Art Nouveau movement. Catrina has now worked with a range of authors & publishing companies helping them bring their stories to life with visual storytelling while also forging a creative connection with the author.
Born in the Scottish Borders Catrina has spent the last 6 years studying Art & Design. Heavily inspired by Old folklore tales, Catrina started illustrating and recreating covers and scenes from her favorite fantasy stories, games, films, and books Digitally.
After falling in love with digital art Catrina started creating digital drawings utilizing what she had learned from traditional art mediums, this resulted in high-detail monochrome works using dot and line that transitions flawlessly to book foils.
Catrina works with the author or publishing house directly to create work that everyone can be proud of, she understands and appreciates the amount of work and pride that goes into writing and publishing a book and the importance of how a book can be perceived through its cover.
